Orgeat Syrup
Orgeat is an almond syrup frequently used in tiki drinks. It is my favorite syrup (so far). You will find it in the Mai Tai, Trinidad Sour, and my Bird of Paradise. If I have the time I follow the Death and Co recipe, which involves toasting and milking your own almonds. When I don’t have the time (frequently) I follow this recipe.
Ingredients
3/4 cup Almond Milk - Unsweetened (important)
1/2 cup sugar (I use turbinado or demerara)
5 drop orange blossom water
Pinch salt
Yield
~8oz/1 cup
How to Make
Blend all ingredients until sugar is fully dissolved. Store in fridge for about a month. Note that the mixture will separate; shake it before using.
That’s it! Now go make a Mai Tai.
